About The Interns

Sydney Internships applicants are primarily from Germany, The Netherlands, France, Sweden and the UK. We ensure that all applicants have a valid Working Holiday Visa (417) which allows them to complete their internship on a full time basis for a maximum of 6 months (26 weeks). Sydney Internships has set a minimum duration of 12 week placements although shorter internships are sometimes requested. In order to be granted a 417 Visa, applicants must be aged between 18 – 30 years.

Our Agents assess the applicant’s level of English before accepting them onto the program to make sure they meet our standards.

Whilst most applicants are completing an internship as part of their university requirements, many choose to complete an internship to gain training in an English working environment.
The internship experience and skills they achieve will be an asset to their career and give them a competitive edge in the job market.

University requirements differ between each educational institution. Whilst some are as minimal as the number of employees an internship host organisation must contain, others involve a time consuming graduation assignment requiring the intern’s full attention for a maximum of two days per week.

The hosting company may benefit from the intern’s graduation assignment. A graduation assignment is a topic on which the intern must complete extensive research and detail a solution. The assignment topic must be approved by both the University and host organisation. Examples of a marketing graduation project could include a ‘market research and customer satisfaction report’ whilst an example of a logistics project may include ‘increasing process efficiency’.

Process

* Complete and return a company profile detailing the training available to an intern.
* Sydney Internships will then forward suitable CV’s for the company to consider.
* Phone interviews are arranged with the requested applicants.
* When both the intern and host company agree to proceed, then an agreement must be signed to secure the placement.
* We aim to complete this process a minimum of 6 weeks before the applicants requested internship start date.

Most of our applicants apply from overseas and will only book travel
arrangements once the internship is confirmed.

Insurance

Sydney Internships insists that every intern acquires their own insurance policy. The policy must insure the intern for medical, travel, accident and personal liability expenses up to AUD $2 million.

Intern’s Expectations

As the focus of the placement is on a learning experience, the interns expect to enhance their skills and experience in their chosen field. Interns expect to be treated with respect and should be adequately supervised and trained in their chosen field. The interns must be incorporated into the company and regularly monitored.

The interns expect to be provided their own ‘office’ space. They also expect to attend the internship for 40 hours per week although this can vary between industries and must be negotiated directly with the interns during the interview process.

Sydney Internships requires all companies to complete a monthly training journal throughout the internship.

Please complete and return a Company Profile so we can forward suitable CV’s to match the training and supervision your company can offer.
